Before & After Care

Eyebrows: Before Care

  • Please arrive with your makeup as usual so I can get an idea of what your comfort zone is for color and shape. I will then proceed to take you through a series of measurements which will be my guide. I will address symmetry and shape with you at this time. You will then approve the shape and color before I begin the procedure.
  • Avoid alcohol or caffeine 24 hours prior to your procedure. This will minimize any oozing or swelling after the procedure.
  • Do not exercise the day of the procedure as the body heat expands the pores.
  • No sun exposure or tanning 2 weeks prior to the procedure. If you have a sunburn upon arrival, your appointment will be cancelled and deposited forfeited.
  • Fillers or Botox should be done 6 weeks prior to your procedure and 6 weeks after your procedure.
  • If you get your eyebrows waxed or tinted, please have this done at least 72 hours prior to your procedure.
  • Getting a procedure while on your menstrual cycle can make you hypersensitive at the procedure.
  • Do NOT take blood thinners (Aspirin, Coumadin, Tylenol, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen) 72 hours prior to your procedure.
  • If you are under a physicians care you must obtain a release from him/her prior to your procedure.
  • You must have written permission from your physician if you are taking Coumadin or Heparin.
  • You MUST be off Retin-A, Retinol, or Retinods for 7 days prior to your procedure and avoid using on or around the area for 30 days after. If used before 30 days, it can cause the pigments to fade prematurely.
  • You have to be off Accutane for 1 year.
  • If there are any blemishes, pimples, active cold sores, irritation of the skin of any kind, moles or other skin imperfections in or around the area of the procedure, the procedure will be rescheduled until the blemish or area of concern is gone.
  • All permanent cosmetic procedures can be a multi-session process. You will require a follow-up visit no sooner than 4-6 weeks after initial treatment. (If appointments are available)
  • Be prepared for the color intensity of your procedure to be significantly sharper, brighter, darker, &/or overall more bold than what is expected for the final outcome. It will take time for this transition, based on how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates. Eyebrows can lighten 30-50%.
  • If you have well water, please get a gallon of distilled water and Dove soap to clean the procedure site.

Eyebrows: After Care

  • Expect treated areas to be tender for the next few days. The procedure area may be red, swollen or have a discharge of lymph (clear fluid) and blood for at least 12 hours post procedure.
  • Gently dab off excess lymph from the procedure area with a clean tissue for the remainder of the day.
  • You may use a clean, cold compress to relieve swelling.
  • A sealant is applied to protect your brows immediately after your appointment. 72 hours post procedure, you may begin applying a THIN layer of the provided After Care Cream if you are experiencing discomfort from tightness or itching. Use this sparingly as the area needs to heal itself.
  • The procedure area will be much darker and bolder for 5-7 days post procedure. The true color will not be visible for 4-6 weeks.
  • DO NOT TOUCH the healing pigmented area with your fingers. Touching the treated area with your fingers, unclean cotton swabs, old products or other, may result in infection. If you need to touch the area – use a clean cotton swab!
  • DO NOT RUB, SCRATCH OR PICK THE TREATED AREA; pigment may be removed along with crusting tissue. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring.
  • It is very common to have some areas fade more than others. This is a part of the healing process and will be addressed at the recommended touch-up appointment. Eyebrows may take 1-3 treatments to achieve the desired result.
  • Sleep on a CLEAN (preferably satin) pillowcase while the procedure area is healing.
  • No water, soap, lotion, or makeup should touch the treated area for 14 days.
  • No steamy showers, tanning bed, swimming, or exercising until the area is healed.
  • No tinting of brows until the procedure area has completely healed.
  • If you are a blood donor, you may NOT give blood for 1 year following your permanent makeup application (according to Red Cross).
  • Touch-up appointments should be scheduled between 6-12 weeks post procedure. All permanent makeup procedures are at least a two-step process. Results cannot be determined until the color boost appointment is completed.
  • If you resume the Retin-A, Retinol, or Retinods after the 30 days, the continued use will fade your permanent makeup prematurely.
  • DO NOT USE any lightening and peeling products that contain AHA’s, Vitamin A, Retinol A, Glycolic/Lactic Acids on the treated area; it will fade your tattoo/permanent makeup prematurely. Check your product labeling. It will fade your pigment color. Read the ingredients on the back of every bottle of product that you use.
  • If you are in the sun a lot, have oily skin, using Retinol products, chemical peels, then you will need color refreshers every 6 months to 1 year.
  • Use sun block after the procedure area has healed to prevent future fading of pigment color; apply a waterproof sunblock 3-4 times daily to prevent fading. Hats are also helpful in avoiding excess sun exposure.
  • Scar tissue in eyebrows that have been done multiple times WILL require additional procedures and fees will apply.
  • If you have any questions or concerns please notify your technician immediately. You need to follow ALL After Care Instructions for maximum results of the procedure. Failure to follow the above advice will result in less than desired results.
  • Day & Effect
    • Day 1 & 2: The eyebrows are darker and bolder in width than they will be when healed. Your skin is red under the pigment, which causes the color of the pigment to appear darker. There is some swelling, although difficult to actually see due to the thickness of the skin in the eyebrow area. This will subside. Exfoliation, which begins in a few days, will cause excess pigment surrounding eyebrow procedure to flake away and a narrower appearance will result. New skin will heal over the pigmented area and result in a softer appearance of your eyebrows. Don’t be concerned that your eyebrows initially appear darker and heavier in size that you desire. This is all part of the process.
    • Day 3: Eyebrows start to itch and will appear a bit thicker in texture. Exfoliation begins.
    • Day 4: The skin begins to flake, peeling from the outside edges first.
    • Day 5: Color finishes flaking off and appears softer and grayer for a few days until color clarifies.
